Sharon Hanson is an attorney and the Chief Operating Officer of The Edward Davis Company. She is responsible for the day to day management of company operations; providing vision, leadership and management to ensure proper controls, systems, processes and personnel are in place for effective growth and financial strength of the company.
She has extensive, executive management experience in law enforcement, most recently as Chief of Staff for the Boston Police Department from January, 2007 to May, 2014. She was a key manager in the day to day operations of the eleven district, 2900 employee police department, including the time period during and after the tragic Boston Marathon bombing.
She previously served as the Director of Research and Development for the Lowell Police Department, responsible for the appropriate expenditure and implementation of millions of dollars in grants from the Department of Justice. In that capacity she also led national best practice program and policy development on community policing and performance measures.
She began her legal career as a prosecutor in the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. In her fourteen years at Middlesex she prosecuted cases in District Court, Jury of Six and Superior Court, including multiple homicides and other major felonies. She was appointed Deputy First Assistant District Attorney, responsible for overseeing the attorneys assigned to the Superior Court division of the District Attorney’s Office. She held this position for her last four years at Middlesex. She later practiced real estate law and criminal law in the private sector.
She holds a Professional Director Certification from the American College of Corporate Directors, a public company directors’ education and credentialing organization. She has recently been appointed to the Commission on Medicolegal Investigation.
She is a graduate of Boston College and Boston College Law School.
