Joseph Lawless applies nearly 40 years of law enforcement and security experience to support EDC in strategic relationship building and security project management. As a Senior Security Specialist, Lawless leads various business development initiatives and oversees large-scale security projects. This includes the management of client risk and threat assessments, implementation activities and security program operations to ensure developed security strategies and objectives are executed effectively.

Most recently, as the Chief Law Enforcement and Security Officer for MassPort’s maritime properties, Lawless managed the development and implementation of policing, security and emergency planning strategies for all facilities. Today, Lawless serves on several national and international security panels, and is recognized as a global security industry leader.

Lawless received his B.A. from Merrimack College and M.A. from Boston University. He’s Board-Certified as a Homeland Security Specialist by the American College of Forensic Examiners and spent 13 years with the Massachusetts State Police Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations and Executive Protection units. In 2012, he received the International Police 9/11 Medal for Extraordinary & Distinguished Lifetime Achievement in Fighting Terrorism and Trans-national Crime from the International Association of Airport and Seaport Police.
